Failure to Start SquawkBox

This error appears when SquawkBox is unable to initialize the voice system when starting up. The most common cause of this is that another compatible voice program such as AVC, ASRC or Roger Wilco is already running. You cannot run SquawkBox at the same time as those other applications. To rectify the problem exit the other application and restart SquawkBox.

Sometimes this error is caused by outdated or incompatible drivers for your sound input or output hardware. Contact your hardware vendor for information on upgrading to the most recent drivers for your sound card.

A final reason you may see this message is if your computer doesn't have any compatible input or output sound devices installed. If the computer does not have a sound card you will get this error. It is recommended that you run SquawkBox on a computer that can output sound.
